Casa degli Artisti presenta da giovedì 17 giugno a domenica 11 luglio 2021 Avrei Brio, mostra personale di Sergio Breviario che propone una serie di lavori realizzati durante la sua residenza, pensati per dialogare con lo spazio espositivo del piano terra ma anche con la città intera.

Dal 10 al 13 giugno, alcune delle opere che saranno poi presentate in mostra nella Casa, gireranno per le piazze della città, realizzando di fatto un’anteprima itinerante ma anche una forma inattesa di condivisione e di giocosa propaganda.

Questa anticipazione fuori dal contesto espositivo non vuole essere una performance ma si pone come parte integrante della mostra stessa, come un inizio allo scoperto e una ricerca del pubblico sul campo. Un’azione non priva di rischi, se si considera la natura di questi oggetti itineranti: delicatissimi disegni a grafite dura montati su specchi e protetti all’interno di cornici che esorbitano il loro consueto spessore fino a diventare parallelepipedi lunghi 127 centimetri. Cornici apparentemente eccessive, ironicamente calcolate al centimetro, che alludono a una profondità di immagini che faticano a contenere.

Le opere nomadi, dopo aver percorso la città, approdano infine alla Casa, dove la mostra è articolata in tre zone. Nella prima qualcosa del modo esterno, un bosco, accoglie i visitatori, ponendosi come una sorta di area di decompressione e, nelle intenzioni di Breviario, una zona di conforto per lo spettatore, dove prendere fiato sulla soglia tra il dentro e il fuori, prima di immergersi nelle acque cui guardano e da cui provengono le creature fantastiche protagoniste dei suoi disegni. Questi si trovano a fluttuare nello spazio della seconda zona, dove sono collocati diagonalmente in modo da non poter mai essere visti due per volta ma solo singolarmente e da uno spettatore alla volta. La mostra è pensata per essere vista in solitudine o da piccoli gruppi, in coerenza con i tempi che stiamo vivendo, ma per una ragione diversa da questa.

Nella terza zona una grande tela stesa sul pavimento invita a perdere la verticalità e a galleggiare sulla sua superficie per conquistare l’unica posizione da cui è possibile vedere l’ultimo disegno.

Sono come sabbie mobili i disegni di Breviario, e sono proprio le cornici che ci avvertono della loro profondità. Apparentemente duri come laghi ghiacciati, si rompono sotto il peso dello sguardo e la nostra visione si allaga. Quando guardiamo l’ultimo disegno siamo sott’acqua, sdraiati sul fondo della nostra visione.

La mostra sarà accompagnata da un testo critico del curatore e critico Milovan Farronato.

Contributi

Un accompagnamento sonoro, con musiche originali di Taketo Gohara e Yae Gohara per Avrei Brio, sarà riprodotto tre volte ogni ora per tutta la durata della mostra.

Taketo Gohara è un produttore discografico, tecnico del suono e sound designer giapponese. Nasce a Milano nel 1975 da una famiglia di artisti. Nel corso della sua carriera ha lavorato come produttore, arrangiatore e tecnico del suono con vari gruppi e artisti italiani tra cui Vinicio Capossela, Brunori Sas, Elisa, Biagio Antonacci, Motta, Vasco Brondi, Ministri e i Negramaro. Insegna Sound Design all’Istituto Europeo di Design e al Centro Professione Musica di Milano. Nell’ambito cinematografico è specializzato come sound designer e ha all’attivo più di 30 film come mixatore di colonne sonore in Surround.

Il bosco interno a cura di Green Wise Italy

Per il progetto Avrei Brio di Sergio Breviario, Green Wise allestisce la prima zona della mostra, ricreando al suo interno un ritaglio di bosco.

Una porzione di paesaggio naturale verrà trasportata nella prima sala dell’esposizione: una combinazione di freschi alberi, arbusti ed erbe che faranno dimenticare al visitatore gli spazi freddi e asettici della città, fonte inconsapevole di stress, creando un senso di quiete e immersione.

L’insolito ambiente di un bosco situato all’interno di un edificio e il conforto, la leggerezza che il contatto con la natura porta, guideranno gli ospiti all’inizio di questo viaggio nel fluttuante e suggestivo mondo dell’artista.

In linea con la filosofia di Green Wise, studio di green design impegnato nella sostenibilità, la bellezza della natura sarà celebrata non solo con la riproduzione estetica della sua forma ma anche attraverso l’utilizzo di materiali rispettosi dell’ambiente.

Le piante utilizzate per la realizzazione del bosco interno sono gentilmente concesse da Cappellini Giardinieri, azienda che da cinque generazioni coltiva piante da alto fusto e realizza giardini e terrazzi collaborando con i migliori architetti e paesaggisti italiani.

From Thursday 17 June to Sunday 11 July 2021 Casa degli Artisti presents Avrei Brio, a personal exhibition by Sergio Breviario, who offers a series of works completed during his residency and conceived to dialogue with the ground-floor exhibition space, but also with the entire city.

Some days before the inauguration, a few of the works that are to be presented at the exhibition in the Casa will travel around the city squares, becoming a travelling première for the exhibition but also an unexpected and playful way of sharing and advertising it.

These foretastes outside the exhibition context are meant not only as a performance but as an integral part of the exhibition itself, as the start of discovery and an audience field survey.  This is a course of action not without risks, considering the nature of these itinerant objects:  extremely delicate, hard-graphite drawings mounted on mirrors and protected on the inside by frames far deeper than normal, so as to become 127cm-long parallelepipeds.  These apparently excessive frames, ironically calculated down to the last centimetre, hint at a depth of image that they can barely contain.

After travelling the city, these nomadic works will finally arrive at the Casa, where the exhibition is arranged over three zones. In the first, something from the outside world, a wood, welcomes visitors, offering itself as a sort of decompression area and, according to Breviario’s intentions, a comfort zone for spectators, where they can catch their breath on the threshold between outside and inside, before immersing themselves in the waters, in the direction indicated by the fantastic creatures that are the subjects of his drawings and from which they come.  The creatures find themselves fluctuating in the space of the second zone, where they are arranged diagonally so that they cannot be seen two at a time, but only alone, and by one spectator at a time.  The exhibition is designed to be viewed alone or in small groups, coherently with the times we are living in, but for other reasons, too.

In the third zone, a large canvas spread over the floor invites us to abandon our verticality and float on its surface, to assume the only position from which it is possible to see the last drawing.

Breviario’s drawings are like quicksands, and it is the frames that alert us to their depths. Apparently hard as frozen lakes, they break up under the weight of our gaze and our eyes are flooded. When we look at the last drawing, we are underwater, lying on the riverbed of our vision.

A critical text by the curator and critic Milovan Farronato will accompany the exhibition.

A musical accompaniment with original pieces by Taketo Gohara and Yae Gohara for Avrei Brio, will be played three times every hour for the duration of the exhibition.

Taketo Gohara is a Japanese music producer, sound technician and sound designer. He was born in Milan in 1975 in a family of artists. During his career he has worked as a producer, arranger, and sound technician with various Italian groups and artists, including Vinicio Capossela, Brunori Sas, Elisa, Biagio Antonacci, Motta, Vasco Brondi, Ministri and the Negramaro. He teaches Sound Design at the Istituto Europeo di Design and at the Centro Professione Musica in Milan. In the field of the cinema, he specialises in sound design and has worked on over 30 films, mixing soundtracks in Surround.

The indoor wood was set up by Green Wise Italy

For Sergio Breviario’s project Avrei Brio, Green Wise Italy is setting up the first exhibition zone, recreating a piece of woodland inside it.

A portion of natural landscape will be transported inside the first exhibition room: a combination of live trees, bushes and grass which will make the visitor forget the cold and sterile spaces of the city, an unperceived source of stress, creating a sense of calm and immersion.

The unusual environment of a wood located inside a building and the comfort and lightness that contact with nature brings with it will guide visitors at the beginning of this journey through the artist’s fluctuating and evocative world.

In line with the philosophy of Green Wise Italy, a studio for green design committed to sustainability, the beauty of nature will be celebrated not only by reproducing its aesthetic form but also by using eco-friendly materials.
